Apart from being a regular favorite in the noontime show “Eat Bulaga!”, actor and comedian Paolo Ballesteros is also popular for his numerous make up transformations that he shares on social media for all his fans to see. Whether it’s to look like Lady Gaga, Angelina Jolie, or Anne Hathaway, among many others, Ballesteros has shown time and time again just how skilled he is when it comes to his prowess with cosmetic brushes and sponges.
Not many may know it, but Ballesteros is actually the great-grandson of Fernando Amorsolo through his paternal grandmother Virginia, who was the artist’s daughter. Amorsolo is known as the first ever National Artist of the Philippines and is immortalized by his classical realist portraits and paintings that often depict rural life and the common folk in the Philippines.
It seems that Ballesteros himself has taken to exploring the art form of his grandfather’s, as he took to Instagram yesterday to share his first finished painting.
“1st finished resin painting,” Ballesteros wrote as he showed off his resin pour creation. “Practice pa more.”
The result was a mesmerizing work of art where flow and movement play a role, with hues of yellow, brown, blue, white and black forming lace wave effects — a piece that didn’t look like a first timer’s work at all.
This doesn’t come as a surprise, however, as Ballesteros most likely grew up being exposed to painting. Apart from Amorsolo, Ballesteros’ late father Elito was a painter in New York, whereas aunt Eula Valdes does painting as well.
It seems, too, that Ballesteros is planning to create more resin paintings in the near future; in his Instagram Stories today, he asked where he could purchase epoxy resin.
“San kaya may supplier dito ng clear epoxy resin?” asked Ballesteros. (Where could a supplier of clear epoxy resin be here?)

Now with painting under his belt too, apart from Ballesteros’ funny antics on television as well as his make up transformations on YouTube, his resin works are another thing to keep one’s eyes out for. JB
