Shia to play his own dad in biopic
Bad boy Shia LaBeouf will play his own father, Jeffrey, in the biopic “Honey Boy,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. It will focus on the problematic relationship between Shia and his dad, a former clown and recovering heroin addict, when the former “Transformers” star was growing up.
The actor, who starred in the Disney comedy series, “Even Stevens,” in the early 2000s, cowrote the “Honey Boy” script. Lucas Hedges, who was nominated for an Oscar for his performance in “Manchester by the Sea,” will play Shia.
Shia recently talked about his offscreen meltdowns. He told Esquire, “I’ve got to look at my failures in the face for a while. I need to take ownership of my sh*t and clean up my side of the street before I can go out there and work again, so I’m trying to stay creative and learn from my mistakes.”
