Almost 20 years after they first—and last—worked together, Dingdong Dantes will reunite onscreen with his former “T.G.I.S.” costar, Anne Curtis. But this time around, it’s for a romantic film.

The coming film, titled “Aya and Sid (Not a Love Story),” is Dingdong and Anne’s first project together in which they play romantically involved characters.

“It’s such a big thing. I appreciate things like this,” said Dingdong, who, in his two decades in show biz, has never shot a movie overseas—until now.

It was also amusing, he added, to see just how much Anne has grown through the years.

“Nakakatuwa … It was one of the first big projects of our careers here in the industry, and we were in the same cast,” the actor said, looking back at his time in the popular youth-oriented series’ second batch, which ran on GMA 7 from 1997 to 1999.

“She was one of the first actresses I have ever worked with,” he told reporters at a recent rehearsal session for “Sikat Ka, Kapuso!,” a series of shows featuring GMA 7 stars in the United States and Canada next month.

“The previous movie we did, (‘Honey, My Love, So Sweet,’ 1999), we were siblings,” he said.

The two recently flew to Tokyo, Japan to shoot some scenes for the film. It was also a nice opportunity, Dingdong said, to catch up with Anne. “You get to know a person more when you’re on location, working—more so than just sharing a stage,” he said.

“She’s a very prominent personality now—people see her every day,” Dingdong noted. “It’s great to see that the jolly person I see on television is how she really is in person … and even more.”

Dingdong’s schedule is looking relatively lighter than last year’s. He said he had no forthcoming soap, and was focusing on the said movie for now. This means more bonding time with his wife, Marian Rivera, and daughter, Baby Zia.

The show biz couple’s favorite bonding activity these days is working out—something Marian used to dislike doing.

“I used to bug her about it. But now, she wants to be more active and joins me,” he related.

“It’s not just about looking good, but feeling strong and healthy,” the 37-year-old star said.
