Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez recently revealed that, she—like many women in Hollywood—had experienced harassment from men in power when she was just starting out.

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, the pop star said that while she “hasn’t been abused in the same way some women were,” the director of one of her earlier movies did ask her to take her shirt off and show her boobs. She remembered being “terrified” when she spoke up.

Lopez related, “I remember my heart beating out of my chest and thinking, ‘What did I do? This man is hiring me!’ It was one of my first movies. But, in my mind, I knew the behavior wasn’t right.”

The “On the Floor” singer added: “It could have gone either way for me. But, ultimately, the Bronx in me was like, ‘Nah, we’re not having it.”—ALLAN POLICARPIO
