KC Concepcion has visited Marawi as a United Nations World Food Program Ambassador against Hunger.
The showbiz personality, who was appointed as the country’s National Ambassador against Hunger in 2008, released on her Instagram Stories updates of her trip with WFP representatives and Chef Tony Boy Escalante of Antonio’s Group of Restaurants.
She visited a primary school where children greeted guests with a dance number to the tune of “Tara Teach Peace Na.”
The delicious food prepared for the day was made by Escalante: squash porridge with chicken balls.
Concepcion featured haunting sights in the war-torn city, including the bullet-ridden home of Abu Sayyaf leader Isnilon Hapilon.
However, her visit was still a joyous occasion as she posed for pictures with local women and children.
She called for continued assistance to Marawi, even as she bared that 49 new schools have been erected in the area.
“They are in need of kitchens and also supplies, and tables and chairs and seats with side tables,” she said.
“Ang sisigla na ng mga tao (the people are full of energy) ,” she said of the vibrant atmosphere, adding that “it does not mean tapos na ang lahat (everything is done).”
“Please continue working and helping and remembering Marawi,” she asked people. /ra
