Sam Milby opens up on who singer Moira Dela Torre is in his life in a recent talk-show interview.
When asked on “Tonight with Boy Abunda,” Milby said, “She is my little sister kahit hindi kami kadugo (She is my little sister even if we’re not blood-related).”
Milby added how protective he is of Dela Torre and how they have grown close to each other over the past four years.
“I can’t explain how happy I am kung saan siya ngayon. Lahat ng success na nangyayari sa kanya ngayon (I can’t explain how happy I am where she is now [and for] all the successes that she’s now experiencing),” he said.
Even before Dela Torre gained fame, Milby recalled how he wondered why such a talented person was not getting the attention she deserved. He even considers Dela Torre’s talent to be world-class.
“Ang maganda rin sa mga hugot songs nya, they’re not hugot na victim, they’re hugot na may hope (The good thing about her songs is that they don’t focus on being a victim, but rather offers hope).”
Also a songwriter, Dela Torre was one of the contestants for Season 1 of “The Voice Philippines” where she impressed coach Apl.de.ap. Despite not being the grand champion in that singing contest, she later gained recognition for the song “Malaya,” which was part of the soundtrack of “Camp Sawi,” a movie that Milby also starred in. /ra
