How Mikael and Megan keep their 7-year relationship strong

While they’re not planning on tying the knot any time soon, Mikael Daez said he and Megan Young do “envision” themselves being a married couple, and doing so would make them “very happy.”

“We already know each other well, so it’s just a matter of right timing. No need to rush. Once we get there, I know that it’s going to be a happy moment,” he told reporters at a press conference for GMA 7’s afternoon soap, “The Stepdaughters.”

“Also, I have to think of a nice way to propose. Dapat ‘yung kilig! (It should be thrilling!)” added Mikael, who dreams of exchanging vows somewhere unique. “Is it possible to do it in Antarctica?”

Asked about the secret behind their seven-year relationship, Mikael said honesty is the key.

“When we’re mad at each other, we voice it out. We don’t make each other guess how we’re feeling. None of that ‘you should feel my anger.’ That can hurt your ego, but it’s ultimately better for the relationship,” he pointed out.

Spontaneity, Mikael said, also adds spice to their lives. One time, the couple flew to Japan on a whim just so they could eat ramen.

“After doing a shoot for an underwear brand, I was told by my trainer that I could eat whatever I wanted for one weekend. I had been on a diet then for 10 weeks, and I wanted to eat something good. It was midnight, and I was craving ramen. So we found ourselves booking a 6 a.m. flight and rushing to pack our bags,” he related.

“Traveling is a great bonding experience for us,” Mikael added.
