Superstar Nora Aunor recently visited Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela, to spearhead the school’s National Arts Month celebration.
Aunor’s Rinconada Bikol-language film “Hinulid,” directed by Kristian Sendon Cordero, was shown during the event, which also launched scriptwriter Jerry Gracio’s book of Waray and Filipino poetry, “Waray Hiunong sa Gugma/Walang Tungkol sa Pag-ibig.”
“Nakikiisa po ako sa pagbubukas ng National Arts Month sa Pamantasan,” Aunor told the Inquirer. “Naging sentro po ng selebrasyon ang mga likhang sining mula sa iba’t ibang rehiyon at nabigyan ng focus ang Bikol.”
As every Noranian knows, La Aunor is a true-blue Bicolana.
“Nagkaroon ng open forum kami ni Direk Kristian, kasama ang mga estudyante at guro at ilang kawani ng lokal na pamahalaan ng Valenzuela. Napag-alaman ko na napakarami palang programa ng lungsod para sa arts at culture.”
She plans to join more campus tours in the near future. “Plano kong gawing mas madalas ang pagbisita sa iba’t ibang paaralan sa mga darating na araw—bilang kontribusyon ko sa pagsulong ng ating mga likhang sining, lalo na ng pelikula bilang isang mahalagang sining ng ating bansa.”
According to Cordero, the Superstar recognizes the “potential” of students as an audience for her independently produced films. “She promised to return to teach and give a talk on her life as an actress. We also hope to invite her to one of the screenings at the University of Santo Tomas, from March 5 to 8.” Coming soon: The Superstar Master Class.
On the small screen, La Aunor will topbill, with Ryzza Mae Dizon and Pia Guanio, “A Daughter’s Love,” one of the Lenten presentations of “Eat Bulaga” next month.
