Dua Lipa–a dreamer’s gratitude
British pop star Dua Lipa, who was one of the big winners at the recent Brit Awards, dedicated her best female solo artist trophy to all the women who had paved the way for her generation of singers.
“I want to thank every single female who had been on this stage before me, and had given girls like me a place to be inspired by and [someone to look up to]. They allowed us to dream,” she said.
“Here’s to more women on these stages, winning these awards and taking over the world,” added Dua, who also took home the British Breakthrough Act award.
On the red carpet prior to the ceremony, the 22-year-old artist, who’s behind the hits “New Rules” and “Scared to Be Lonely,” also carried a white rose in support of Time’s Up, the movement against sexual harassment founded by Hollywood celebrities in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal. —ALLAN POLICARPIO
