WATCH: Bill Gates guesses grocery prices with Ellen DeGeneres
As one of the richest people in the world, Microsoft founder Bill Gates was recently treated to a little test: guessing the prices of everyday grocery items.
Admitting that it has been “a long time” since he last visited the grocery, Gates played along with Ellen DeGeneres in the game “Bill’s Grocery Bills” in her talk show.
She stipulated that if the billionaire guessed right for three-out-of-five items, within a range of a dollar for each guess, the audience will get something in return. “If we get all of them, we’ll pay all of your children’s student loans,” DeGeneres then joked.
Failing to guess the first two items presented, Gates finally got it right on his third try, when he correctly guessed the price of a dental floss. With a little coaching from audience members, he once again guessed correctly when asked how much is a bag of pizza rolls, and a spinach-artichoke dip.
As promised, everyone in the audience became automatic winners when the television host announced that they could come back for her “12 Days of Giveaways”.
