Disney plans ‘The Muppets’ reboot for upcoming streaming service
In support of the planned streaming service by Disney, the company will reboot “The Muppets”.
Although no official title has been announced, the planned series is set to bring back the old gang of Kermit the frog, Miss Piggy and other notable characters, according to The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday.
Disney previously attempted to revive them when the company launched a television series in 2015. Titled simply as “The Muppets”, the show did poorly on rating and got cancelled after one season.
According to Disney CEO Bob Iger, the company is also planning to do a reboot of “High School Musical” which has led to two sequels; as well as a series based on the Pixar Movie “Monsters Inc.”
The so-far unnamed streaming service, poised to be a rival of Netflix, will launch in 2019, initially in the United States. Katrina Hallare/JB
