LOOK: Jiro Manio and Isabelle de Leon’s magnificently moving reunion

It was a reunion of sorts for “Magnifico” stars Jiro Manio and Isabelle de Leon when the two actors recently hung out like two old friends, and shared the moment to fans.

The former child stars of the 2003 critically-acclaimed Maryo J. delos Reyes film looked happy as de Leon carried Manio on her back, seen in a photo the actress shared on her Instagram page last Tuesday.

De Leon first thanked the actor “sa pagbuhat mo sa’kin (for carrying me) 11 years ago” and told him that it’s now her turn to return the favor.

Giving words of encouragement to the actor, she said: “[H]indi naging madali ang buhay, pero tandaan mo na hindi nasusukat and tao sa kanyang pagbagsak, [kundi] sa kung paano tayo babangon mula dito.” (Life has not been easy, but remember that a person is not measured by his downfall, but by how he overcomes from it.)

The actress also could not help but be sentimental and remembered their late director as she continued to re-assure Manio, “[B]ut [I’m] sure nakangiti [siya] mula sa langit sa muli mong pagbabalik!” (But I’m sure he’s smiling from heaven for your comeback!”

Followers of de Leon felt nostalgic about the movie, and expressed hope for the two to collaborate again for another project.

Manio in the past had a drug addiction problem which saw him entering a rehabilitation facility for treatment.

“Magnifico”, which tells the story of an impoverished boy and how he manages to give whatever he could to his family and community, was met with widespread acclaim, both here and abroad, at the time of its release. JB
