Dingdong Dantes secure about his best actor award

/ 08:56 PM January 03, 2012

DINGDONG Dantes: “I have respect for the institution that gave me the recognition.”

As a member of the Cinema Evaluation Board, I was able to watch all seven Metro Manila Filmfest entries. And I must say that Dingdong Dantes truly deserves his best actor award for “Segunda Mano.”

There are some quarters questioning his victory. ER Ejercito is quite disappointed that he wasn’t named best actor since his movie “Asiong Salonga” won best picture plus other major awards.

What are Dong’s sentiments about this? “I respect the opinion of other people,” he said. “But I have more respect for the institution that gave me the recognition. Their credibility and integrity as an award giving body should not be questioned. I would like to congratulate all other winners of this year’s MMFF. They all deserve to win.”

FEATURED STORIES

As Dong welcomes the new year, he is too busy reaping the fruits (of his labor) with no room for sour grapes.

Best bet

Phillip Salvador is happy for his good friend John Regala who won best supporting actor at the MMFF awards. “Grabe ang pinagdaanan na hirap ni John,” Ipe says. “Nag- pay off ang kanyang pagbabagong-buhay.”

But Ipe wonders why he wasn’t nominated for best supporting actor in “Panday.” “I was nominated for my role in Asiong Salonga,” Ipe explains. “But I was hoping na sa ‘Panday’ ako ma-nominate. Yung character ko kasi sa ‘Asiong’ as a policeman dati ko nang ginagawa, but yung sa ‘Panday’ first time.

Naka-prosthetics ako and full costume. I’m not saying naman na dapat ako ang nanalo. A nomination for my Lizardo character in ‘Panday’ would have been victory enough.”

With or without an award, Ipe never fails to stand out in any movie he makes.

More, more of that Salvador splendor!

Desecration

ER EJERCITO: Disappointed richard reyes

I was in a state of disbelief when I saw a sex video of Ramgen Revilla and Janelle Manahan. The people who uploaded the video are sick in the head. Do they think it will discourage Janelle from telling the whole truth about Ramgen’s murder?

It’s bad enough that Ramgen died the way he did. The beauty of the memories that Janelle had with Ram are all she has left. Sad that some people are desecrating that as well.

Preggy?

Could it be true that the teenage daughter of a controversial celebrity is infanticipating? It’s quite surprising how she got preggy because the unica hija is always surrounded by bodyguards and yayas. But then again, the young and the restless have their ways.

Valentine concert

“Mr. And Mrs. A,” a concert featuring Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez, goes onstage on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. The “reality-based concert” unveils the couple’s stories of love and life woven together through the most beautiful songs.
