Rachelle Ann Go definitely puts the pride in Pinoy, having represented the Philippines through her glimmering milestones in the world of Broadway, first for her debut in the Tony Award-winning musical “Miss Saigon”, and now as Eliza Hamilton in the highly-acclaimed tour de force “Hamilton”.
Blessed Go may be in her professional career, she is just as fortunate, if not more, when it comes to her romantic life. The singer and theatre actress got engaged to her boyfriend Martin Spies September of last year, and now has shared to her followers the story behind her and Spies.
Go posted in Instagram two days ago a throwback photo of her and Spies from Feb. 9, 2017, exactly a year ago, saying that it was their first ever photo together.
“Look how awkward & chubby we were,” wrote Go. “@spiesmj & I were set up by a common friend @arlenejoyb !!! She made it look like we were all hanging out but in reality, she had this mission! Now… Martin & I are engaged.”
The matchmaker of the two is Arlene Joy Bartolome, a good friend of Go, pictured below.
As their relationship bloomed and prospered, it was only a matter of time until Spies popped the question. He proposed to her last year in the beach, as shared by Go in September 2017.
“I just prayed for this on my 31st birthday and just like that this happened,” gushed Go. “What an amazing God we have. Thank you Father God for this man. A man who loves you first. I still cannot believe this!!!”
Being engaged doesn’t mean Go is slowing down, however. Although she now has her marriage to prepare for, Go has no plans in retiring anytime soon as she continues to slay on stage, being part of the “Hamilton” cast.
Last month, Go and the cast had the honor of meeting legendary rock n’ roll and soul singer Tina Turner, who paid them a visit. Go shared her experience of meeting Turner in her Instagram account, saying that she grew up singing her songs.
“TINA TURNER!!!!” Go wrote in ecstasy. “I grew up singing her songs! What a legend! I couldn’t believe this!”
These days, the “Hamilton” musical continues to make waves with its 20-city national tour, kickstarting the year in San Diego, California and now making its way to Tempe, Arizona and Seattle, Washington. JB
