At 2, Scarlet Snow Belo has charmed the Internet with her adorable face and the new skills she learns every day, from speaking Chinese to arguing with her dad, Hayden Kho, about her last name.
Her patient teachers include dad himself, who reads to her and, at times, gives her lessons on anatomy.
In a video posted on Instagram, Scarlet impressed her 1.9 million followers as she paid attention to her dad’s lecture on abdominal muscles.
“Touch daddy’s muscles,” says Hayden, referring to his stomach. “Is it soft or hard?”
“Hard,” responds Scarlet, and then describes her own tummy as “soft.”
She also feels her Kuya Quark Henares’ stomach, which she says is “hard.”
Netizens’ comments expressed awe, with some joking that she could be in medical school.
Others were interested in more than an opportunity for learning: “Pafeel din po daddy (Let me feel it too),” one quipped.
However, one concerned commenter said the lessons were “not appropriate for toddlers or preschoolers.”
“I don’t think introducing new concepts like this to a toddler will harm the child,” said the 37-year-old cosmetic doctor in response.
“The idea is for her to LOVE learning as if it’s just playing, so there’s no pressure on her to ‘perform’. We want her to develop curiosity in life.”
“We never underestimate the mind of a child,” the dad of one wrote.
Others encouraged the cosmetic doctor to continue the lessons. Some said that they benefited from being taught early by their parents, or that they have a similar experience with their own children.
One shared that her father didn’t shy away from teaching her about history or law cases when she was young. “All of that helped me as a person to be curious about the world, to learn the value of honesty, work ethics.”
“For as long as she loves it, I don’t see anything wrong,” another said. /ra
