Movie Trailer Review: ‘My Fairy Tail Love Story’ starring Janella Salvador

12:10 AM January 23, 2018

While Janella Salvador’s latest movie ‘My Fairy Tail Love Story’ is obviously inspired by Disney animated movies specifically that of ‘The Little Mermaid’, the premise of it being set in the modern world (21st century) not only gives it a unique, different, and quirky vibe to the whole movie, it is surely going to provide viewers a lot of laughs as well.

It is obviously going to be a delightful, wholesome movie that the entire family can happily look forward to and watch with much enjoyment.

Janella Salvador’s character wakes up to discover she has suddenly become a mermaid, to her consternation. She also ends up losing her normal speaking voice and the only way she can communicate is by singing what she wants to say. The awkward and surreal predicaments she finds herself in and how she overcomes them will be a big part of the movie, I guess.

FEATURED STORIES

To be clear, Janella Salvador is not portraying Ariel of ‘The Little Mermaid’ being transported back to modern times or anything close to that. It is simply Janella Salvador becoming a mermaid. Being that of the same race of Ariel is the only connection there is to Ariel’s character.

The plot is definitely not going to be the norm in this movie nor will it be typical of what we see in romantic comedies here in the Philippines. So that leaves a lot of room for the writers to experiment and do things differently with this film. For me, after getting to watch the trailer, it did remind me a lot of the movie ‘Enchanted’ which was released more than a decade ago. I feel that if you have seen that movie then you would have an idea of what ‘My Fairy Tail Love Story’ could be like when it comes to the general tone and feel of the movie.

I would classify ‘My Fairy Tail Love Story’ to be that more of an offbeat romantic comedy. It is not a slapstick movie that will have no direction or meaning to it. I believe there is a solid script in this film. A decent art direction is immediately discerned in the trailer.

It helps that Janella Salvador does sound a lot like Ariel in the original animated Disney movie of ‘The Little Mermaid’ from decades ago. That is why the comparisons are unavoidable. Having the musical chops is a huge plus for Janella Salvador’s career because she is able to fit into roles like this perfectly.

This movie trailer will be the definitive clincher that will make Janella Salvador the biggest ever artist of her generation. She will be a BIG, BIG star surpassing all those who have come before her.

In fact, I had foreseen this bright future for her when I featured her in two special articles of mine.
