We, at the Cinema Evaluation Board, gave Regal Films’ “Mama’s Girl” a grade of A. It will hit you, bull’s-eye, in all the right spots. The heartwarming movie made me miss my mom all the more. Sylvia Sanchez and Sofia Andres’ brilliant mother-and-daughter portrayals remind us that all other loves are replaceable and interchangeable, except a mom’s love.

Here’s my chat with Sofia and Jameson Blake (who plays the former’s boyfriend):

FEATURED STORIES

How can millennials and their parents bridge the gap? Communication is the key. Talk about issues. Hear each other out, and listen with your heart. Millennials are different from their parents, so we really need to open up and realize that our parents can also be open-minded. We have to accept the differences.

What don’t you understand about your parents? Sometimes, when I ask permission to go out, they won’t allow me. I don’t always understand their reasons. We have disagreements when Mom does not allow me to go out.

What’s the best and toughest part of being a millennial? Our generation is very open. We want to experience everything and learn from it. However, it has consequences. We sometimes regret what we did, but we learn from it.

What do you “hate” about guys? I hate “chickboys.” Sometimes, you can’t tell if they’re sincere or not. Girls need to love themselves first. I hate guys with reservations, because we, girls, love selflessly, all-out.

How are you living up to the millennial’s mantra, “Yolo” (You Only Live Once)? That’s so me. I’m very adventurous. I want to try everything once.

What’s one daring thing you want to try this year? Skydiving!

What puzzles you about girls? Their emotions. Some tend to hide them, and they’re puzzling to read.

What do you find hard to understand about your parents? Nothing much, except maybe their past.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve done? I decorated a house with toilet paper by throwing rolls of it on the roof.

What do you think of girls who make the first move? I’d appreciate that. We don’t meet girls like that all the time. It depends on a lot of factors if I’d fall for such an aggressive girl.

How do you handle gay fans? It’s flattering to see fans like them because they support their idols 100 percent. It’s like they have blinders on and their world revolves around the people they idolize. But, if they get too pushy, I have to draw the line somewhere. I respect them, so they should respect me, too. Admiration is fine, obsession isn’t.
