Fresh from his breakup with stage actress Teetin Villanueva, actor JC Santos said he learned one thing about being in a relationship for a long time.
“Commitment talaga (really) is a big responsibility,” Santos said in a guest appearance on “Tonight with Boy Abunda” on Tuesday.
Santos, who had been with Villanueva for four years, admitted to talk show host Boy Abunda that his pain from their separation stemmed from the length of time they were together.
“Eh kapag ganun na katagal, you feel like it’s forever na,” the actor opened up to Abunda. (When it’s that long, you feel like it’s forever.)
He also said that he and Villanueva have not talked since parting ways, thus he wanted both of them to cool off their heads first before they could talk again.
“Ngayon kasi posibleng galit kami sa isa’t-isa, and nasa mabigat pa na sitwasyon yung relationship. Eh kung lumamig na, eventually… kasi nandito pa rin naman ako bilang kaibigan para sa kanya,” he said. (Right now, it’s possible that we’re still mad at each other, and our relationship is in a heavy situation. If it cools down, eventually… because I’m still here for her as a friend.)
When asked what he would say if given the chance to speak to Villanueva, Santos said among other things, “I’m sorry I let you down,” and “You deserve to be happy.”
“Pasensya na kung ‘di ko mabigay sa’yo yun,” Santos said while holding back tears. “Kasi nga, […] napaka-loving ni Teetin eh, at hindi ko mapantayan ‘yung pagmamahal na ‘yun. You deserve someone better.”
(Please forgive me if I can’t give that to you. Teetin is so loving and I cannot her give back that same kind of love. You deserve someone better.)
Villanueva has yet to respond to Santos’ statements. She previously implied through posts and comments in Instagram that Santos cheated on her, thus the cause of their breakup. Katrina Hallare/JB
