Korean celebrity couples who found love on set

Love can bloom anywhere, anytime. But for actors, the drama set is an opportune place to find love, where their onscreen romantic chemistry with co-workers is highly likely to spill over to real life.

Most recently, singer-turned-actor Lee Joon and actress Jung So-min became the first official couple of this year. The onscreen couple from KBS’ “My Father Is Strange” admitted Monday that they developed feelings for each other at the set.

Here are other celebrity couples who developed crushes on each other after the camera stopped rolling.

1. Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo

The superstar couple famously met on the drama set for KBS’ “Descendants of the Sun”, where Joong-ki played the role of a captain of a South Korean special forces unit , while Hye-kyo played a doctor who works with the captain in disaster-torn areas. The pair tied knot the in October last year, drawing extensive attention from all around the globe.

Recently, at the year-end KBS Drama Awards, Song Joong-ki thanked the drama for leading him to Song Hye-kyo.

2. Ahn Jae-hyun and Ku Hye-sun

Ahn Jae-hyun and Ku Hye-sun, famous for their romantic married life, met on the set of “Blood”, a TV drama about a vampire physician and his female doctor colleague. They said they started dating after the drama ended in April 2015. The two wed in May last year, sitting out on a wedding ceremony and donating money to the pediatric clinic in Severance Hospital, where they had filmed the drama.

3. Ji Sung and Lee Bo-young

The couple met at the set of the 2004 TV series “Save the Last Dance for Me”. After confirming their relationship in 2007, the pair married in September 2013 and had their first child, Kwak Ji-yoo, in June 2015.

The two recently showed sweet chemistry at the 2017 SBS Drama Awards. Ji Sung and Lee both attended the event; Ji Sung won the grand prize for his role in “Defendant” and Lee grabbed the top excellence in acting award for “Whisper”.

4. Ki Tae-young and Eugene

Ki Tae-young and Eugene, co-stars of the 2009 MBC drama series “Making Destiny”, tied the knot in July 2011.

They gave birth to their first child, Ro-hee in April 2015. “My life changed a lot after meeting my wife. I was trapped in my own world as an outsider, but after meeting her, I learned how to open my mind up to others and became brighter. She gives me a lot of positive influences,” Ki once said of Eugene in an interview.

5. Ryu Soo-young and Park Ha-sun

The couple’s romantic flame sparked in 2014 when they co-starred in MBC’s 2013 drama series “Two Weeks”. After they got married in January last year, the couple welcomed their first child in August. JB
