Solange Knowles has revealed that she was forced to cancel her gig in the coming Afropunk Festival in South Africa, because she has been dealing with a “complicated” nerve disorder.

“For the past five months, I have been quietly treating and working through an autonomic disorder. It has been a journey that hasn’t been easy on me,” the singer-songwriter wrote on a recent Instagram post.

“Sometimes, I feel cool; other times, not so cool at all,” she said, adding that her doctors had advised her against going on an extended flight and overexerting herself. “I’m still learning so much about myself.”

Still, the “Cranes in the Sky” singer vowed to return once she recovers.

“I will come back to Afropunk and deliver this performance. It is extremely important to me to connect with the people who have so closely inspired me in so many ways,” she said. —ALLAN POLICARPIO
