The decision to have Kristen Bell host the SAG Awards marks a big change as the annual trophy show has never been hosted before.
According to Variety, the announcement was made on Monday by the awards executive producer, Kathy Connell.
Connell said, “This has been a year in which assumptions have been challenged, stereotypes have been shattered, and precedents have been broken. We decided to capture the cultural mood by casting aside one of our own traditions, and we’re thrilled to have such a talented performer like Bell help us do so.”
Previously, Bell has featured in the box-office hit “Frozen,” and is currently starring in the festive film “A Bad Moms Christmas.”
The ceremony—which is to be hosted on January 21 at the Shrine Auditorium—will see the American actress take to the stage and make history. NVG
