The phenomenal split-screen couple Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards, known as “AlDub,” is the most tweeted love team of 2017 in what has been the year of entertainment in the Philippines’ Twitter timeline.
According to Twitter Philippines, Maine and Alden topped the list of the 10 most tweeted Filipino accounts of 2017, only to be followed by their fan-base “AlDub Nation” who came in third in the list.
“This year, the AlDub couple, Maine Mendoza (@mainedcm) and Alden Richards (@aldenrichards02), venture into different fields as a pair and as individuals, but fans continued to show their love on Twitter,” the social networking site said in a press release.
Maine, known as “Yaya Dub” in noontime show Eat Bulaga, also placed fifth as the most tweeted celebrity around the globe.
Despite the Kapuso actress’ unprecedented entry to showbiz, Twitter Philippines hailed Maine as “one of the hottest on Twitter” right now.
Alden, meanwhile, placed second in the Philippines’ list of most tweeted celebrities. For Twitter Philippines, the so-called “Pambansang Bae” only proves his “ongoing star power” in the local scene.
“Both actors achieved significant milestones this year including their teleserye ‘Destined to be Yours,’ Maine’s book launch for #YupIAmThatGirl, and the #ADNFestival2017,” Twitter Philippines said.
“These events were widely talked about by the AlDub Nation making the AlDub love team, the most talked about couple on the platform,” it said. /jpv
