LOOK: Gerald Anderson honors soldiers with visit to Marawi

Actor Gerald Anderson paid tribute to the Armed Forces’ efforts with a visit to the recently liberated Marawi City.

Dressed in his Coast Guard uniform and shades, he wrote in an Instagram post, “We sleep safely at night because rough men stand ready to visit violence on those who would harm us… Marawi liberated.”

Some of the military members he met were Iligan’s Coast Guard. In 2016, Anderson was inducted to the Philippine Coast Guard as a lieutenant.

According to an ABS-CBN report, he visited the battlegrounds and had lunch with troops and the local government’s civilian rescuers.

Sharing a picture of the city’s welcome sign, he used the uplifting hashtag #bangonmarawi.

In Nov. 24, he and actress Maris Racal attended the 67th founding anniversary of the 1st Scout Ranger Regiment. The unit specializes in anti-guerrilla jungle warfare and counter-terrorism.

The 28-year-old actor also shared a video from the anniversary to pay tribute to the soldiers.

Celebrities that have been actively supporting and providing aid to Marawi include Robin Padilla, Solenn Heussaff, Angel Locsin, Alden Richards and Pops Fernandez. JB
