Kapamilya singer-actor Matteo Guidicelli was all game as he jammed live on yesterday’s episode of Inquirer ShowbizLive.

The viewers enjoyed his acoustic performance of his songs “Hey” and “Ipapadama Na Lang.”

Staging his own concert entitled “Hey Matteo” on November 30 at the Kia Theater, the 27-year-old singer is set to show the world that he’s more than just a screen actor, much more, the boyfriend of the country’s pop royalty Sarah Geronimo.

Among his guest performers are fellow Cebuano singer and power belter Morisette Amon, rapper Loonie, musician Kiana Valenciano and dance group G-Force among others.

With just barely a week left before the big day, he is now busy with promotions which have been paying off well as tickets are going “almost sold-out.”

Apart from showcasing his music, Guidicelli will also be dancing at his concert.

His album bearing the same title features fresh tracks.

“Days and episodes and hours that I experienced in love. It’s very much inspired by late ’90s rock. We have nine tracks, all original songs, it’s a fun album,” he said.

Compared to those who do both writing and singing, he just isn’t too comfortable venturing into composing yet, “Nahiya pa ‘ko. (I’m still shy) They’re (singer-composers) extra gifted, they’re geniuses, maybe in the future we’ll see,” he added.

On Sarah Geronimo

Being the boyfriend of a famous pop royalty sure has its own ups and downs. Inevitably, some may think that he’s just riding on Geronimo’s stature to breeze his way through the industry while others believe he truly has what it takes to have a music career.

But having a concert would have to be the best way to prove to everyone that he deserves a spot with or without his famous girlfriend.

Both being singers, Guidicelli said they actually jam together.

“Sometimes yeah (we jam together), on the phone, depende kung ano man nasa radyo dyan (depends on whatever is playing on the radio), if I hear a nice song on the radio, I’ll tell her ‘love there’s this new song, ganito ganito (like this, like that),'” he said

“Sing to me and I’ll sing to you,” he added.

Among his favorite song of hers is the infectious hit, “Kilomentro” which he gave his own twist as he sang a male version of the track live.

He also denied rumors that he is jealous over Geronimo’s onscreen partners.

“I am not really the selos type pero ‘nung pinanood ko ‘yung pelikula nila ni John Lloyd sabe ko, ‘Love, ano nagseselos na ko dito ah’ but that’s a good thing kasi it means effective ‘yung ginagawa nila. But syempre after the show alam ko naman John Lloyd doesn’t have a chance with Sarah, Sarah’s only mine,” he said as the energy in the studio hyped in kilig overload.

(I am not really the jealous type but when I watched her movie with John Lloyd [Cruz] I said, ‘Love, I’m slowly getting jealous’ but that’s a good thing because it means they’re effective. But of course after the show I know that John Lloyd doesn’t have a chance with Sarah, Sarah’s only mine)

He also explained why they both shied away from bluntly posting photos of each other on social media.

“Showbiz is such a sticky industry, you really have to try to differentiate (what you post). I’m not saying posting is bad, it’s perfectly good, it’s an expression of whatever. I think ‘yung decision namin to just keep everything separate is just a decision for now but I’m sure in the future, magbabago rin naman ‘yun, (it’ll change for sure),”  he said.

He also clarified that Geronimo is not part of his concert.

“She’s not a guest. It’s intentional because she has nothing to do with the show,” he said.
