Amid a sea of mixed reviews of the recently released superhero film “Justice League,” “Aquaman” himself, Jason Momoa, is trying to distance himself from all the negativity.
After landing the monumental role of the “King of Atlantis,” the 38-year-old actor admits to being “bummed out” following the film’s underwhelming box-office results so far.
“I try to stay the f**k away from what people say. Some of my friends said, ‘Justice League’ isn’t doing well’ and it kind of bummed me out,” the former “Game of Thrones” star was quoted as saying in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
“But I didn’t want to look it up. I don’t want to look up the bad and the negativity. I don’t think that’s useful; it doesn’t help.”
His comments came after reports surfaced that Warner Bros. studio was losing somewhere around $50 to $100 million on the highly anticipated superhero mashup film.
After seeing the full film twice, Momoa visited the Wizard World Austin fan convention over the weekend, where he was met with “great praise” by those who have seen the film.
“Now obviously, that’s a positive place, and I’m not only interested in the positive,” he said.
“But if people love what we did with Aquaman, it’s all [director Zack Snyder] — it’s his brainchild. He came in with, ‘I’m going to make Aquaman a badass and I’m going to change stuff, and change the myths about this guy.’ And I busted my ass.”
