Martin del Rosario is officially the Barbs to Paolo Ballesteros’ Trisha in “Born Beautiful.”
Dark wigs and makeup constituted their glamorous looks.

The TV show is a spin-off from “Die Beautiful,” a Jun Robles Lana film about Trisha, a transgender beauty queen who suddenly dies at a pageant.
Her best friend Barbs pulls all the stops to make sure Trisha’s dying wishes are fulfilled.
Christian Bables portrayed Barbs and won Best Supporting Actor for his performance at the 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival.
He was expected to reprise his role after being part of a promotional teaser for the show. The video has since been taken down.
Martin del Rosario has been cast in the role, which ruffled some fans.
Despite his desire to put on Barbs’ wig again, Bables said in a statement that the decision to pull out of the project was his management’s.
“I am happy that Martin del Rosario will get to play the role of Barbs. I know he’s a good actor,” he wrote.
Del Rosario promised, “Will do my best as your ‘successor.’”
The 25-year-old is no stranger to queer roles. He once played a transgender beauty queen in an episode of “Maalaala Mo Kaya.”
The series airs on Cignal in January 2018. /ra
