Green Day has just released a greatest hits album that includes the brand-new track “Back in the USA”, which has now been given the video treatment with a black-and-white satire of the American dream.
The video opens on a 1950s-style scene of American life, complete with lawn-mowing, sweater vests and waving neighbors. Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong grabs a copy of the newspaper, headlined “Presidential Address Tomorrow,” and heads inside before getting a visit from a traveling sunglasses saleswoman who changes his outlook on his seemingly idyllic lifestyle.
He is soon joined by his fellow band members as they bring their new outlook to the stage.
“Back in the USA” is one of two new tracks to feature on the band’s just-released album, called “God’s Favorite Band”. The 22-track LP also showcases the new song “Ordinary World” featuring Miranda Lambert. JB
