Star Cinema’s latest horror movie offering “The Ghost Bride” just keeps drawing moviegoers, as its sales now reached P51.5 million within its first week of release.
The film production arm of ABS-CBN has just reported about the movie’s latest earnings via Instagram.
The film speaks about the untold Chinese tradition of ghost marriage, wherein one or both parties who are deceased are arranged to be married. Such practice is done to preserve the importance of sibling succession in the family when it comes to marriage, and to make sure the deceased will not be lonely in the afterlife.
A woman who agrees to such arrangement shall have to devote her life to the dead spouse. In return, the family of the deceased will be uplifting the finances of the ghost bride and that of her family’s.
Top-billed by Kapamilya actress Kim Chiu, other cast members include Matteo Guidicelli, Alice Dixon, Ina Raymundo, Christian Bables and Kakai Bautista. Directed by Chito Rońo, “The Ghost Bride” is now showing nationwide. JB
