Some fans were worried that Yoshiki might be pushing himself too hard. The celebrity  received emergency surgery in Los Angeles a few months ago to address his cervical foraminal stenosis, which is caused by enlargement of a joint in the spinal canal. It was diagnosed in 2009 and experts believed his intense drumming style contributed to the development of the condition.

Leader of the famous Japanese visual kei band X Japan, Yoshiki has been known to be a multi-talented individual. He acts as the primary songwriter for his group while also playing drums and the piano. Yoshiki also composes classical music.

Apart from his decades-long career as a musician, he has entered other industries including winemaking and kimono designing. He even has a collaboration with the Hello Kitty franchise for their “Yoshikitty” beauty face masks, according to SoraNews24.

X Japan was formed in 1982 through the efforts of Yoshiki and lead vocalist Toshi. The visual kei band has since enjoyed popularity, having sold over 30 million records. It was recently named the “Best Metal Band from Japan” by online magazine Loudwire.

The visual kei style among Japanese musicians characterizes through flamboyant costumes, elaborate hair styles,  varying levels of makeup, and often androgynous aesthetics. It has similarities to western glam rock. /ra
