Veteran actor Christopher de Leon put on his soldier gear and celebrated his 61st birthday by honoring the gallant navy and marine officers who fought in the war in Marawi City.

In a recent Instagram post by his daughter, Miss International-Philippines 2017 Maria Angelica “Mariel” de Leon, the award-winning actor was seen posing with soldiers who risked their lives to restore peace in Marawi.

Christopher de Leon is in fact a Navy Reserve CPO (Chief Petty Officer).

“My dad, Philippine Navy Reserve CPO Christopher S. de Leon, with the navy & marines honoring the brave soldiers who fought in the battle of Marawi. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!” (Long live the Philippines!) wrote the beauty queen.

Meanwhile, Mariel greeted her loving father in a separate Instagram post.

Her note reads, “Happy birthday to MY DAD – MY TATAY – MY SUPERHERO. I love you more than words can show. You are my rock and the only man I will love forever. Thank you for always supporting me through everything; through both the good and the bad.”

She further wrote of her actor father, “You always spoil me and give me the best advice. You never fail to make me feel so loved! I am proud to be the daughter of such a hard working, humble, loving, and generous father. You always teach me to be patient, to be humble, to trust God and to always pray. You inspire me to [be the] best version of myself I can be. I miss you. I love you very much, Tatay!”

Mariel is currently in Japan for the upcoming Miss International 2017 beauty pageant, to be held on Nov. 4. JB
