Entertainment columnist Cristy Fermin on Monday lashed back at producer Robby Tarroza for dragging her name and another showbiz columnist into rumors that singer-actress Isabel Granada has already died.
The death rumors circulated on social media last week after Granada suffered internal bleeding and aneurysm and was in a coma in a hospital in Qatar.
The family of Granada and her husband, Arnel Cowley, immediately denied the death rumors and said Isabel is still alive but remains in a coma.
Fermin berated Tarroza over her radio program “Cristy Ferminute” on TV5 for not getting his information right.
In his Facebook post last week, Tarroza wrote “May nagsabi sa akin na si cristy fermin daw nagkalat ngayon na patay na si Isabel Granada…”
(Someone told me that it was Cristy Fermin who spread the news that Isabel Granada is dead…)
Fermin strongly denied this, stressing that she simply relayed a text message from film director Frannie Zamora who quoted veteran actress Vivian Velez for earlier posting on social media about Granada’s supposed passing. Velez has since deleted that post after getting bashed by netizens over that false information.
Fermin also explained that she immediately issued a clarification as friends and the family of Granada refuted the death rumors and proved that the actress is still very much alive and fighting for her life. She added that she also was among those who wished for the speedy recovery of the actress who collapsed at a meet-and-greet event in Doha, Qatar, on Wednesday.
According to Fermin, she was appalled at learning that Tarroza actually wished that she dies instead. Fellow entertainment columnist Jobert Sucaldito was also not spared from his wrath.
“So da[p]at kapit tayo buong bayan at ipagdasal natin na sana si Cristy Fermin nalang ang mamatay. Isama pa nya si jobert sucaldito! Tang dalawang h**** ang dapat mamatay,” Tarroza wrote.
(We should all unite and pray that Cristy Fermin die instead. And bring Jobert Sucaldito with her! These two Judases should die.)
To this, Fermin asked: “Bakit mo gustong mamatay kami ni Jobert?” (Why do you want me and Jobert to die?)
Fermin said she felt there was absolutely no reason for Tarroza to wish for her and Sucaldito’s death because she does not remember any significant encounter with him in the past.
She, however, remembers Tarroza as somebody who tried his luck in showbiz but failed.
“May galit siya sa amin [Fermin and Sucaldito] na hindi namin alam kung san galing,” she said.
(He is angry at us but, for whatever reason, we don’t know.)
Meanwhile, family and friends of Granada, including actress Bianca Lapus and former love team partner Chuckie Dreyfus, keep the people informed of her condition via social media. According to them, Granada is still “unconscious but stable”./asu
