Hayao Miyazaki has just announced a new anime film project, including its title and projected time frame.
“Kimi-Tachi wa Dou Ikiru ka” (How Do You Live?) will be the renowned anime director’s new and “final” project. He estimates the film will be completed in around three to four years, reports Asahi Shinbun.
The title was inspired by a 1937 book of the same name and written by Genzaburo Yoshino. Miyazaki claims the book will be held in great regard by the protagonist of his new film.
Yoshino’s book revolves around the characters Koperu and his uncle. It talks about Koperu’s spiritual growth and how to live as human beings.
Studio Ghibli earlier announced its return to full production status, and has begun looking for new talent to join the workforce. Part of the staff and new interns currently work on “Kemushi no Boro” (Boro the Caterpillar) while the rest will likely be working on “How Do You Live?” Alfred Bayle/JB
