Binibining Pilipinas-International 2017 Maria Angelica “Mariel” de Leon gave her heartfelt thanks to Kapamilya actor Coco Martin for helping her “discover a new interest.”
Being the daughter of the country’s drama king Christopher de Leon, and veteran actress Sandy Andolong, it should not be too surprising that the young beauty queen has acting in her veins.
But despite having the best source of DNA for acting, she shied away from it, because she was “intimidated” by the profession.
Thanks to Martin, she jumped into becoming his leading lady in his Metro Manila Film Festival 2017 official entry “Ang Panday”, ultimately discovering her love for acting. She wrote her gratitude for the actor in a recent lengthy Instagram post.
“Thank you so much @mr.cocomartin for this huge opportunity! Thank you for believing in me and for always being so kind. I used to say I didn’t want to act (because I was intimidated by it) but after working with you + the ‘Ang Panday’ family, you pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me discover a new interest,” she said.
In closing, she praised the “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” actor for his passion at work. She also wished that they work together again in the future.
“You really are hard working and down to earth. Sana makatrabaho kita ulit! (I hope to work with you again) I’ll never forget this experience. Thank you! Ang Panday! December 25 na!” she added.
Apart from being a beauty title holder, De Leon also draws attention from the public with her hard-hitting stand on socially-relevant issues. JB
