Lilo, the daughter of Andi Eigenmann and Philmar Alipayo, sustained red rashes on her arm after she was stung by a jellyfish while at a beach in Siargao.
Through his Facebook page on Monday, March 31, Alipayo showed a video of his conversation with his five-year-old daughter who was tracing the red whip-like lines from the tentacle contact on her arm.
“Lilo got stung by a jellyfish today. But she’s ok! Brave baba,” he wrote in the caption.
In the clip, Alipayo said a bluebottle jellyfish stung Lilo, who initially cried from the pain but later got over it.
According to WebMD, the venom of bluebottle jellyfish is “a mix of phenols and proteins that are deadly to their prey, but not to humans.” Its sting causes an “intense jolt of pain which later wanes to a softer pain then goes away entirely.”
“You’re so brave,” the celebrity surfer told his child, who then responded, “Because mommy said I should stop crying.”
When asked if she would still return to the beach after the incident, Lilo initially shook her head no. She later changed her mind after she was assured by her dad that they would only go to the beach when it’s safe.
“The one that stung you is really one of the sakit one but you’re very brave, baba,” Alipayo reiterated.
Despite the jellyfish sting, Lilo appeared to have remained cheerful as she was seen in high spirits while bonding with her family in a succeeding video.
Aside from Lilo, Eigenmann and Alipayo share a son named Koa.
