Singer Regine Velasquez on being a gay icon and her heaps of impersonators: “Sobrang nakakatuwa sila. I don’t mind them at all. Recently, some Regine look-alikes posted on Instagram their makeup transformations. Ay, mga nag-abala. Nagpa-parlor ang mga bakla! At nagpa-pictorial! May panahon pa silang gawin ’yon,” she said, adding that imitation, after all, is a form of flattery. “Eh, puwede namang ibang tao ang gayahin nila.”

“Ewan ko ba sa mga baklang ’yan, they do love me!” Regine added. “Ang tawag nila sa ’kin, ‘Inay.’ Talaga nagka-anak ako? Ang cute naman. At nakakatuwa rin dahil napagkakakitaan ng iba ’yon. So, parang kasama ka na rin sa success nila.” —ALLAN POLICARPIO
