Fil-Am comedian to ‘come home’ in series of shows
Jo Koy, the Filipino-American comedian known for his hilarious skits that poke fun at the quirks of being raised by a Filipino mother in the United States, will be heading to the Philippines later this year for a series of standup shows, according to local promoter MMI Live.
The 46-year-old comic—Joseph Glenn Herbert in real life—will take the stage at The Theatre at Solaire on Nov. 30 and Dec. 3 (call 891-9999); and at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu on Dec. 1 (232-6888).
From performing in coffee shops in Las Vegas, Jo Koy went on to land regular appearances in such TV shows as “The Adam Carolla Show” and “Chelsea Lately.”
Jo Koy has appeared in specials on Comedy Central, which include “Don’t Make Him Angry” and “Lights Out.” Meanwhile, his third special, “Jo Koy: Live from Seattle,” is now being streamed on Netflix. —ALLAN POLICARPIO
