Ed Sheeran’s Manila concert still on—for now
Following a recent bicycle accident in London that rendered him injured, Ed Sheeran has been forced to cancel multiple dates in the Asian leg of his ongoing “÷ (Divide)” world tour.
In a recent post on Instagram, the singer said that, “sadly,” his shows in Taipei, Osaka, Seoul, Tokyo and Hong Kong “will not be able to go ahead as planned.” “A visit to my doctors confirmed fractures in my right wrist and left elbow that will leave me unable to perform in live concerts for the immediate future,” he wrote—or at least someone else did, because Ed’s arms are in a cast.
If all goes well, Ed can be expected to resume touring on Nov. 7 in Manila, at the SM Mall of Asia concert grounds. “I’m waiting to see how the healing progresses,” said Ed.
This was confirmed to the Inquirer by Renen de Guia of Ovation Productions, which is mounting the show with Smart Music Live. “The Manila concert is still on for now. Ed’s team said they will play it by ear,” he said.—ALLAN POLICARPIO
