Sharon on friendship with Mayor Sara

In a recent speech, President Duterte revealed that he avoids quarreling with critic, Sen. Francis Pangilinan, in deference to the lawmaker’s wife, singer-actress Sharon Cuneta.

The president also pointed out that his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, has been a fan of the Megastar ever since she was a kid.

The Megastar shared with the Inquirer the story behind her unexpected friendship with the mayor. “When I taped the Davao episode of my old TV5 show, ‘Sharon: Kasama Mo, Kapatid,’ [Mayor Sara] went to the sets—even to Abreeza mall, where I had a thanksgiving concert.”

Sharon remembered that Mayor Sara was pregnant at the time. “We’ve been in touch since then … since 2012, I think.”

Mega pointed out: “We never let politics get in the way of our friendship.” Mayor Sara would always remind Mega “to avoid stress and not get affected by politics.”

Sharon related that she had made a public appeal on Twitter recently. “My phone crashed, and I lost all my contacts. So I tweeted that I hope [Mayor Sara] would text me at the same number so we could stay in touch!” —BAYANI SAN DIEGO JR.
