What if there was a part of civilization better left abandoned and uncharted?

An adaptation of the Jeff VanderMeer novel “Annihilation” features Natalie Portman as one in a team of brave explorers who enters Area X.

The site has been cordoned off by the government as it has been deemed an environmental disaster zone.

The teaser suggests that she has encountered a mysterious presence that may be behind the disappearance of her husband, played by Oscar Isaac.

According to Deadline, the film adaptation is based only on the first book in the “Southern Reach Trilogy.”
