Production for the second season of the anime series “One-Punch Man” has been handed to another studio and will be helmed by a new director.
The anime’s Japanese website made the announcement and named animation studio J.C. Staff as the new one in charge of creating the show. Chikara Sakurai, who worked on the “Naruto Shippuden” TV series, will be sitting in the director’s chair, reports Anime News Network.
The “One-Punch Man” main cast will all be returning to reprise their roles.
The anime show is an adaptation of manga creators ONE and Yusuke Murata’s “One-Punch Man” series, which is currently being published on the Shueisha free Tonari no Young Jump website. Season one of the anime series was produced by animation studio Madhouse.
“One-Punch Man” centers on the super hero Saitama. Despite being unrecognized by the general public, he turns out to be the strongest super hero in the world. Capable of defeating most foes with just one punch, his overwhelming power ironically leads to boredom.
The anime’s second season was announced in September 2016. However, an exact date for season two’s premiere is yet to be revealed. Alfred Bayle/JB
