Christian Bale is one of the most dedicated actors in Hollywood—often going to great lengths physically just to make his roles more believable.
Perhaps his most amazing transformation came in 2004, when he lost a significant amount of weight to play an emaciated insomniac in “The Machinist,” only to pack on considerable muscle to portray Bruce Wayne in “Batman Begins” a year later.
After going through a frail and ripped physique, the 43-year-old American actor is visibly putting on weight to play former US Vice President Dick Cheney in the upcoming biopic “Backseat.”
Bale, who also got himself plump for the role in 2013’s “American Hustle,” recently revealed during the Toronto International Film Festival that he had been “eating a lot of pies” to portray the politician.
Although his dedication is truly admirable, Bale’s fluctuating weight patterns could produce some health concerns in the future. A study published in the International Journal of Obesity said losing and gaining back weight at a fast phase could lead to cardiovascular concerns.
Meanwhile, “Backseat” still does not have an official release date, but will also star as Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. /ra
