Ian Veneracion’s financial tip: Have wife manage money
Ian Veneracion is the definition of a devoted husband, so much so that all his earnings go straight to his wife.
The “A Love to Last” actor told the Philippines Ultimate Showbiz Hub in an exclusive interview that he trusts his engineer wife Pam Gallardo to manage their finances.
He explained that his business-savvy wife invested in a construction company. “Whatever I have, my money, is her money. Ini-invest ko doon [business]. Diretso kaagad sa kanya (I invest in the business. It goes straight to her),” he shared in the report.
The couple has been married for over 20 years, so it seems that their system has been effective.
“Hindi ako ang businessman; it’s her gig. For example, ‘yung income from showbiz, kasi kung hindi ko ‘yan paiikutin, wala (I’m not the businessman [in the relationship]; [business is] her gig. If I do not invest my showbiz earnings in business, it would all just disappear,” he added.
“Parang baldeng butas yan, eh, ang showbiz. Kasi di ba, minsan long periods tayong walang trabaho, yung ganu’n (Showbiz is like a pail with a hole. Sometimes, for long periods, we don’t have work),” the actor explained.
While he has starred opposite Jodi Sta. Maria and Bea Alonzo, his wife has remained trusting of him. Veneracion has described her as “confident” in an Inquirer interview.

He also revealed why it would be impossible for him to have an affair: he gets allowances from her, though she never questions what he buys. “Kaya wala akong budget pang-kabit (mistress), ganyan (That’s why I don’t have a budget for a mistress),” he quipped.
The actor, 42, gets advice from his wife on purchases as well: “Tapos ako, nagtatanong sa kanya, kunyari may gusto akong bilhin na gitara o motor or whatever it is, tinatanong ko sa kanya, ‘Can I afford this?’ Sasabihin niya, ‘Puwede naman.’” (I consult her when I want to buy something, like a guitar or a car. I ask her if I could afford it. She would say ‘yes’ if I can.)”
