This time, he is an assassination mastermind in the BBC drama “Gunpowder”.

Harington is Robert Catesby, the man behind the 1605 Gunpowder Plot which aimed to bring Catholic Rule back to England, by killing King James I in a House of Parliaments explosion.

While there is no release date yet, BBC One’s caption “Autumn is coming” hints at when it will premiere.

The 30-second teaser starts with a trail of gunpowder into a cellar and sets the stakes for Catesby. “My wife is dead, my name disgraced,” Catesby narrates.

Guy Fawkes (Tom Cullen) is the first person revealed—until Catesby is seen behind him.

Aside from his co-conspirators, “Gunpowder” also follows how the plot was foiled through the king’s spymaster-in-chief Robert Cecil (Mark Gatiss).

Liv Tyler plays Catesby’s cousin Anne Vaux, who also gets involved in the conspiracy.

Guy Fawkes Day is celebrated every November 5 in Britain to commemorate the failed plot: Fawkes was found in Westminster Palace with the explosives.

The drama has three parts, the first of which will be released on BBC One. Harington is an executive producer of the show, and has said that he is descended from Catesby. Niña V. Guno/JB
