WATCH: Stephen King’s new ‘It’ trailer is not clowning around

The latest trailer for the movie adaptation of renowned author Stephen King’s novel “It” gives audiences a clearer look at the creepy clown who will be chasing after children.

A previous trailer showed only glimpses of a clown-like figure, moving behind the shadows or suddenly appearing from the darkness.

This latest trailer reveals there could be something supernatural behind the evil clown, Pennywise, while also hinting at a violent past as part of the backstory.

The novel “It” was first published in 1986 and won the British Fantasy Award in 1987. The book follows the experiences of seven children as they cope with being terrorized by an evil entity which appears in the form of a clown to attract children.

Pop culture experts have also recognized Pennywise as one of the scariest clowns in film history.

Stephen King’s “It” the movie is scheduled to premiere in theaters in the United States on September 8. It is helmed by Argentinian film director and screenwriter Andrés Muschietti who is known for his short film “Mama.” JB
