Why Bembol won ToFarm best actor award
Veteran actor Bembol Roco on what he thought won for him the ToFarm Film Festival best actor award for his performance in the Paolo Villaluna drama “Pauwi Na,” which is showing until Aug. 22.
“It’s the simplicity and truthfulness of my portrayal of the patriarch who convinces his family to travel from the city to the province via a pedicab. The film is extraordinary. It shows how my character manages to keep his family together and encourage them (the members) to surpass whatever trials they go through. He is diligent, patient and determined. He always rallies them by saying ‘We’re going home. We can do this!’”—MARINEL R. CRUZ
