“As an actor, I’m ready to do whatever is required of me,” Aljur Abrenica declared when asked how far he would be willing to go sexy onscreen.
“Of course, it will depend on how things will be explained to me,” Aljur quickly added.
The actor created a buzz in social media when a scene showing him half-naked and riding a horse was aired recently as a teaser for his first appearance in the Kapamilya channel’s top-rating teleserye, “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.”
“Turning over a new leaf,” was how Aljur described his transfer to his new home network, ABS-CBN. “Personally, I want to grow as an actor.”
Aljur added: “I felt so overwhelmed by what’s happened to me. The culture here (in ABS-CBN) is very different. I immediately felt the sincerity. My new bosses take care of me well. Coco (Martin) welcomed me warmly.”
The actor said negotiations for his transfer happened so fast. “After my contract with GMA 7 ended, my manager contacted ABS-CBN. It so happened that the network was also interested in me. Days later, I found myself inside the ABS-CBN building, where my new bosses laid down their plans for me. That was it!”
Lead star Coco Martin admitted that when he discovered Aljur’s transfer, he spoke with management to ask if the actor could first work for “Ang Probinsyano” before starting his own show.
“I only knew of Aljur when we met at a gym. We chatted a bit, but during that short period of time, I got to know him well and felt very comfortable around him. He was with Kylie (Padilla, actress and Aljur’s partner) at the time,” recalled Coco.
Like Aljur, Louise delos Reyes is a former Kapuso talent making her presence felt in “Ang Probinsyano.”
“I have long been wanting to be part of an action project. It’s just that I always get cast in drama programs. I felt so nervous the first time I met Kuya (Coco). I didn’t know how to properly say hello to him, but he welcomed me nicely,” the actress recalled. “It’s amazing to be on the ‘Probinsyano’ set. You’d think everyone would be so pressured, but things were very light, considering that it is filled with extremely talented actors.”
She described Coco as an amazing actor and creative team member.
“While he is thinking of his own lines, he would also think of what lines you should deliver, but this is without first considering if the lines would suit your character,” Louise shared with the Inquirer. “He would also motivate the whole team by reminding us not to be late…[for] work. He instills discipline in us by saying that those who will come in late will have to treat everyone to pizza.”
