WATCH: Boy Abunda’s wise words to millennials doubting themselves

Bianca Gonzalez’ recently launched vlog, “Paano Ba ‘To?” tackles questions from followers who are trying to figure things out.

Her first video was about being afraid to fall in love—answered by no other than her and her husband, cager JC Intal.

This time, she took a question from a “Miss Searching for More”, a 26-year-old who doesn’t like her job and feels “wala pa akong nararating o naa-achieve sa buhay ko” (I haven’t achieved anything in my life.)

The TV host and model enlisted no other than King of Talk Boy Abunda, who provided sage life advice.

While Abunda, 61, praised the sender for being self-aware, he said, “Number one, honey, you’re 26. It’s not the end of the world. You’re very young.”

He also advised to weigh one’s options in choosing another job.

“If you’re not happy, my first reaction is don’t stay too long in this job,” he said. “Pero it seems like you have to stay for a while. You may be creating more problems by leaving the job now dahil you’ll not be able to support yourself.”

A tip he gave was to make a list of jobs that could potentially make one happy. “Alam mo kung saan ka iikot. (You’ll know what types of jobs to find.)”

He also shared that finding a job you like does not assure happiness. “May pagkakataon din natin sa buhay na may mga bagay na di ka masaya pero kailangan mong gawin kasi kailangan kang mabuhay. (There are times in life when you do something you’re not happy with, but you need to do it in order to live.)”

Gonzalez added that the sender may be comparing herself to others, and to be careful about it. “Your time will come,” she advised.

“You cannot be a whiner. There are people who are never happy with anything,” said Abunda, who recommended having a gratitude journal to find happiness every day.

“You know I started to bloom when I was 32. ‘Wag kang magmadali. (Don’t rush into things),” he said in his final message. “Be kind to yourself.”

On social media, netizens praised the timely advice. Some at 22, others at 28 say they feel that they wrote the letter themselves. “Nakakainis na nakaka-relate ako (It’s so annoying that I can relate),” said a Twitter user. JB
