Vhong: I was honest about my past mistakes
Vhong Navarro is grateful to his fans for continuing to support him despite the ongoing legal tussle he has been in for the past three years.
“I was honest with my past mistakes—my infidelity—I didn’t hide that,” Vhong said in explaining the reason behind his fans’ continued support.
“But I believe that God really knows what happened,” he told reporters at a recent press conference for his coming comedy flick, “Woke Up Like This” (opens Aug. 23), which he topbills with Lovi Poe.
“If these are all part of my life—the challenges I’ve been facing—then I must accept them. Now, it’s all up to God,” he added.
He confessed that his having legal problems was one of the biggest reasons why he and his longtime girlfriend, Tanya Bautista, were not married yet.

The actor-television host disclosed that he and Tanya “are sobrang close na close” to getting married. Still, he couldn’t say when exactly.
Who knows, Vhong may decide to stop waiting and just surprise Tanya, to whom he is thankful for being “very understanding of my situation and for always having my back no matter what.”
“Well, we’re not getting any younger,” he said. “We can’t let such things stop our dreams.”
“If you’re asking, whether it will happen in two or three years, I don’t want to set a specific date … Baka biglain ko na lang siya,” added Vhong, whose first marriage to actress Bianca Lapus was annulled in 2010.
Meanwhile, Vhong was initially evasive when asked to comment on singer Noven Belleza’s sexual assault case, but eventually relented, saying: “It’s tough to talk about the situation he’s in, because I’m going through something similar.”
Noven is the first champion of the singing contest “Tawag ng Tanghalan,” a segment in the noontime variety program “It’s Showtime,” where Vhong is one of the hosts.
“So, I’m hoping that the truth comes out in whatever Noven is facing right now,” he said.
