WATCH: Pia Wurtzbach takes a cultural journey in Thailand

Beauty queen Pia Wurtzbach was in Thailand to tour the country as part of its “Amazing Thailand” campaign.

The Miss Universe 2015 was with friend and host Tim Yap, whom she said was her tour guide, as he had been to the Southeast Asian country multiple times.

Majority of Thailand’s citizens practice Buddhism, so in a long floral dress, Pia made sure not to miss a visit to ornate Buddhist temples. She emphasized in a post that her outfit was in compliance with the dress code in their sacred places.

Suay mak. Thailand 🇹🇭 Today I was honored to get a blessing from a high monk. His wish and premonition for me? I will keep to myself. 🙊 But so far, all I can say.. Amazing.🤗🙏 PS (again) there is a dress code for temples, hence the dress. Khop khun kha 🙏

She also learned rituals to pay respect to a huge reclining Buddha.

A rare opportunity. I’m literally 2 arms length from touching the magestic reclining Buddha. After this photo I did the ritual of dropping a coin onto each pot whilst making a wish each time. 🇹🇭 #AmazingThailand PS this is me showing respect to the culture of the Thai people. It is only an act of blessing.

“Queen P” also did work for her advocacy on HIV/AIDS prevention when she visited the local UNAIDS (Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS). She also joined local beauty, Miss Thailand Universe 2017 Poonlertlarp Ehren, at the Women’s Journey Thailand reception party, where she met fans.

When not on official duty, Pia had her fun on a tuk-tuk, the Thai version of a rickshaw.
