Pinoy “Beliebers” were left dumbfounded when pop megastar Justin Bieber decided to forego the final 14 legs of his “Purpose” world tour—including a scheduled performance at the Philippine Arena on Sept. 30.

At the time of the announcement, the 23-year-old artist vaguely explained the reason for the cancellation, saying he simply was “just resting, getting some relaxation.”

Over a week after his decision, Bieber finally broke his silence and expounded his reasons on social media. In a lengthy post on his Instagram account, the “Sorry” singer thanked his millions of devoted supporters.

“Im so grateful for this journey with all of you.. Im grateful for the tours but most of all I am grateful i get to go through this life WITH YOU,” he wrote at the beginning of the post.

“Learning and growing hasn’t always been easy but knowing [I’m] not alone has kept me going,” he said. “I have let my insecurities get the best of me at times, I let my broken relationships dictate the way I acted toward people and the way I treated them! I let bitterness, jealousy and fear run my life! I am extremely blessed to have people in the past few years help me build my character back up reminding me of who I am and who I want to be!”

Aside from his scrapped tours, the Canadian pop prince also addressed the string of controversies he’s been involved in.

Since canceling the tours in late July, Bieber has been indefinitely banned in China due to his “bad behavior” and made headlines after allegedly hitting a paparazzo with his pickup truck.

“[I’m] VERY aware I’m never gonna be perfect, and I’m gonna keep making mistakes but what I’m not gonna do is let my past dictate my future,” he wrote. “What I’m not gonna do is be ashamed of my mistakes. I want my career to be sustainable, but I also want my mind heart and soul to be sustainable.”

He signed off by admitting his post was riddled with; grammatical errors, but noted that “there’s something special about imperfections.”

Despite receiving flak from fans who had already purchased tickets for his tour, Bieber received support from fellow musician John Mayer.

“When someone pulls remaining dates of a tour, it means they would have done real damage to themselves if they kept going,” he tweeted last week.

“We’ve lost so many great artists lately. I give Justin (thumbs up emoji) for realizing it was time to call it. You should too.”  Khristian Ibarrola /ra
